Ever-present in this moment

Shadows of my existence
Cast upon a blank wall
Shades upon shades
Across the color spectrum
Layered and offset
Exhibiting great depth
Looking ahead through the lens
Yet ever-present in this moment
A frame captured in time

Sometimes, the monkey mind can take over and past less desirable experiences and decisions start running a marathon in my head. It gets to where my mind and body just want to shut down. I was reminded recently that I need to be present in this moment.

As I began to shift my mindset, I realized that they were exactly what they were - experiences and decisions. I can’t change the past, so why dwell on them? Instead, I thank them for the lessons they taught me and I let them know that I am focused on the here and now, staying ever-present.

The future is yet to come and though I may have dreams and goals, the actions I take and way I choose to live today will lead me to an enriched future. As I release attachment to outcomes and allow things to flow, everything begins to have a sense of ease. I am working on appreciating what’s in front of me and making the best of what I have in this moment.
